Ajuga Bugleweed Ajuga Reptans is native to Europe, western Asia and Iran. So callled Carpet Bugleweed is a low growing, evergreen perennial plant that forms a dense, mat-like ground cover. Bugleweed ground cover seeds grow so dense that weeds have almost no chance of germinating. Bugleweed has typical mint flowers that are tubular with two unequal lips and features foliage has basal oblong or spoon shaped leaves which are dark green in color, but during the wintertime, the leaves develop rich bronze and burgundy tones.
