Trister Corkscrew Rush (Juncus effusus)
A fast growing ornamental grass and aquatic plant. Stems have a corkscrew-like, twisted appearance. Grows 12-20 inches tall and 24 -30 inches wide. Grows best in wet, moist soils in sun or part sun. Grow in a water garden, pond, container, anywhere where the soil can be kept moist. Crowns can be covered with 1-6 inches of water, but plant is quite drought tolerant for short periods of time. Forms an outstanding accent, or plant in groups. Grows in USDA Zones 5-10.
Also makes a great addition to cut flowers and flower arrangements.
