THE EMPEROR'S GOLDEN FRUIT
The Abiu fruit from this tree has a bright yellow skin with a pulp that tastes like crème caramel with mango and honey flavors.
The Abiu is a smooth, brilliant yellow fruit with sweet translucent flesh. Abiu has fruits, which are borne directly on the branches several times a year here in Hawaii. It's delicious flavour is reminiscent of crème caramel and it is sometimes used to flavour ice cream and make other desserts. The fruit is considered a delicacy for those who can grow it successfully, and it thrives in warm subtropical and tropical conditions. The secondary and tertiary branches that emerge from the main limbs are generally willow-like (thin and long) and when heavy with fruit, hang downward.
